Recently, I have been a part of the tech conference in Bangalore wherein all the bright minds across the nation were under one roof. While initiating a conversation with a few of them, the first obvious question was, which company do you represent?. “And to my surprise, the response was always an exciting one. “The crowd by large was excited to know more about what’s coming up next in Jio and, therefore, I am here giving you a glimpse of Life@Jio.

Let’s start with a bit of an introduction about myself. I work as a Software Engineer in the MyJio team. It is a power-packed application with numerous features and I precisely work on the HelloJio feature which is a voice assistant. Now please do not assume that I am going to discuss the mundane technical stuff related to a developer’s life. Though I want to stress the fact that at Jio, an engineer’s life is not simply spent by their eyes glued to the screen of their laptop but also consists of various engaging enjoyable elements.

This is me with my entire MyJio Team celebrating Diwali 2019 in a traditional avatar

Jio is located at the Reliance Corporate Park (RCP), Navi Mumbai which happens to be the NHQ of Reliance Industries Ltd. When I joined here, I was awestruck by the sprawling and exquisite campus along with an excellent infrastructure. During my initial days, it was very confusing to understand the various lanes along with entry-exit points before it finally sank in.

The mammoth RCP Campus in the heart of Navi Mumbai.

Early morning arriving on the campus is like entering an abode of fresh air as it is covered by lush green trees all around. Internal shuttles and swanky golf carts are arranged for the employees to go to and fro around the campus as it is quite huge.

The greenery at Jio is a treat to the eyes

The astonishing thing about entering the building is the facial recognition system at all entry-exit points. Looking at the camera which automatically marks the in and out time is indeed so cool and tech-savvy. My workstation is located on the 9th floor of Jio’s building and the view from here is mesmerizing.

Working for long hours can be tiresome sometimes, hence we have various options to rejuvenate ourselves. On most of the floors, table tennis and carrom games are present. TT is a hot favorite game among everyone here. The TT table is hardly vacant during break hours as someone is always present indulging in some serious match. Apart from these indoor games, football and basketball facilities are also available at their respective courts. It is fun to play all these games to freshen up the mind.

Let sweat it out at the court…

A fully functional gym is a boon for all those gym freaks who spend hours to shape up their body. Along with a gym, swimming pool, Jio cycles, Yoga and Aerobics room are also available for strengthening the physical fitness of employees. Jio rightly understands that a ‘Fit body means a Fit mind’.

Now there is something special for people who are far away from activities related to fitness. And if you are trying to guess then let me tell you that I am talking about the foodies of Jio. Food trucks are present near almost every building and provide mouth-watering delicacies from Indian, Italian to Chinese. Numerous catering chains are working at Jio and the employees here love gorging on the rich varieties of food served by them. ‘Anna Rasoi’ is renowned for its south Indian Thali served on the banana leaf. Isn’t that so authentic!

The Learning and Development Center (LDC) at Jio consists of an Experience Zone where highly awesome innovative products, of which some are not even rolled out in the market are kept on display targeting on how the business at Jio is focussed on enriching lives.

The LDC Building

JioTalks which is my favorite program of Jio is also conducted at LDC. The tagline of JioTalks which is ‘Talks that inspire’ rightly suggests that it is the epitome of great talks by some mammoth personalities from the field of technology, business, sports, health, Bollywood, cricket, etc. These talks are motivating for employees to push their boundaries and overcome the hardships of life to achieve their goals.

JioTalks is a great platform to know about highly talented people working immensely well in their respective domains

Knowledge sharing sessions are also conducted among teams which is an apt platform to discuss emerging technologies and the global trends in respective fields.

Some engaging coding sessions

Aren’t all these activities marvelous !!!

To add to the above actions, every year one week is dedicated to the families of employees. Bring your Family to Work (BYFW) is an engaging and fun-filled event that brings together employees and their families. As part of this event, the families can explore the RCP campus and take part in a range of activities specially organized for them. Reliance Family Day is yet another event celebrated with zest and enthusiasm during the year-end.

Reliance Jio is indeed an emerging tech company and it feels great to be part of this organization where spending each passing day improves a bit in me.
